8th of Feb 2025

Both Bellydance & Tribal Twerk have their roots in indigenous cultures. These dances were done by groups of women in community to express & to heal. They both have a powerful effect on the pelvis which releases stagnation increasing blood blood which nourishes the womb. These dances served women throughout their life cycle, supporting health menstruation, pregnancy, birth & postpartum

‘Belly dance can trace its origins back to ancient civilizations in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Mediterranean. Archaeological evidence suggests that women in these regions performed belly dance during fertility rituals and celebrations. This dance form was deeply embedded in their daily lives and spiritual practices, symbolizing the life-giving power of femininity’

‘Tribal twerk has its roots in West African Dance & is more traditionally referred to as Mapouka. Mapouka was a celebratory dance and was widely accepted because people believed that this dance led to encounters with God. ‘
